Mengapa kamu tidak boleh start kereta anda? Apa kereta warning lights on the dashboard? Tak tahu apa mechanics cakap tentang car parts semasa kereta anda diserviskan?
Car parts need to be maintained so that you can drive your car on the road without accidents and mechanical problems. Without fixing the car parts, it could lead to further damage.
So having the basic knowledge about car parts is a must. Let us explain what the important car parts that you should know about are.
Engine
The engine is the heart of the car. You won’t be able to drive your car without it. Apabila engine rosak, kamu tidak boleh push the pedal dan memandu kereta dari 0 hingga 110 km/h.
The engine needs to have a regular oil change semasa kereta diserviskan. This is to ensure that the engine is run smoothly and to prevent wear and tear. So the car’s oil filter removes dust and abrasive particles of the engine oil. Having clean engine oil keeps the engine running smoothly.
Ada pelbagai fuel digunakan to power various types of engine. The engine burns fuel that turns from heat to mechanical energy that makes the car moved. Petrol is for cars, motorcycles, buses and vans while diesel is for trucks.

Fully syntetic engine oil protects your engine across a much borader temperature range and helps improve fuel effiency. Semi-syntetic engine oil enhances its viscosity and wear resistance at higher temperatures and stress.
To save fuel, warm up your engine at the start of your day. Minimise acceleration and braking. Travel light and stick to the speed limit. Don’t leave the engine running while your car is parked. Regularly change the air filter and maintain the tyre pressure once in a while. By doing these steps, you will also save the Earth from pollution.
Maintain and service your car engine regularly. Refer to your meter on dashboard and look at the sticker on your car window. Reaching certain kilometres means it is time to service your car. Otherwise, send your car for service every six months. The more you regularly service the car, the engine can run at an optimal fuel-saving.
Battery
The battery lets you be able to turn on your vehicle. Located under the hood, you dapat cari battery apabila anda tengok (+) dan (-) simbol-simbol. You wouldn’t want to be stuck at the parking lot or in the middle of the road when your car battery is dead.
Car batteries normally last for a few years but it depends how often you drive your car.

Apabila dalam situasi ‘jumpstart’ car, you need to connect the red clamp of the jumper cable to (+) symbol and its black clamp to the (-) symbol.
If the electrolyte level is low, add some distilled water to the battery so it might be enough to keep the engine running.
You need to check the power of the battery monthly. Once in two weeks, you have to start your idle car to avoid getting a low battery. Send your car for service if the car battery is low.
Radiator
The radiator cools the engine. It prevents the engine from overheating.
The radiator will have leaks because of weak coolant, overheating and rust. So you have to check the radiator and the strength of coolant.
Check when the engine is cool. Look at all radiator hoses, clamps and radiator cap to ensure that there are no leaks. Tighten all hoses and clamps where possible and replace the rusted parts.

Di dashboard, you boleh tengok meter untuk tahu engin ada sejuk (C) atau panas (H). Temperature untuk engine perlu seimbang.
From time to time, you need to add sufficient quantities of engine coolant (such as water) to make sure the temperature doesn’t rise too high. Ada penutup yang kamu boleh buka untuk memasukkan air ke dalam radiator. Tambah air selepas engine disejukkan.
Gear Box
Known as transmission, it consists of different gears for you to change when you are driving at a certain speed and situations such as drive, reverse, neutral and park. Ada pelbagai fungsi untuk manual dan automatic.
Shifting gears transfer engine power to the wheels of the vehicle.

As your car reaches a certain mileage, the transmission and its component can wear down. You will not be able to shift gears due to transmission failure.
Ini adalah satu car part yang sangat sukar dibaikikan.
The mechanic needs to check the transmission fluid, worn-out components and driveshafts that contribute to the gearbox performance and shifting smoothness.
Brakes
The brakes help reduce and halt the speed of the vehicle. It ensures your safe driving. Without fixing the brakes, it will lead to serious accidents.
The sensor braking system allows the driver to control the wheels’ movement. It adjusts the pressure of the brake fluid. Brake fluid is transmitted through the steel pipes to the vehicle’s wheels which stop them from moving.

Replace the brake pad and brake rotors if they are in bad condition. Add some brak fluid to minimise the squeaky brake sounds. Send the car to the mechanic if the automatic braking system (ABS) light is shown in the dashboard.
You can ask the mechanic to adjust how comfortable you are in pressing the brakes.
Go easy on the brakes to minimise its wear and tear.
Tyres
Checking and maintain the tyre pressure regularly ensures good handaling, steering and safety, and save fuel. You might need to do this once in a while when you are at the gas station to refuel your car.

A good range of pressure in car tires should be 193 – 234 kPa (kilopascal) or 28 – 34 psi (pounds per square inch). The tyres’ pressure can be varied, depending on the recommendation from car models’ factory requirements. For example, for Large SUV’s, the pressure for its tyres can be as high as 303 kPa (44 psi).
Rotate your car tyres regularly to even out the wear of all four of them. This lengthens the life of these tyres.
Fill air in your car tyres at the gas station if the air pressure is low. Change the tyres or ask the mechanic for help if there are tears or punctures on the tyres.
Windows
Car windows reduce the glare and your visibility while driving. The tempered glass is used for window while the laminted glass is used for windshield.
The wipers need to be replaced once in six months to avoid having scratches and marks on the windshield. The vipers will not be able to clean the windshield properly.

Remove the old wiper (check the length of blade size) by lifting the wiper arm away from the windshield and depress the small tab on the underside of the wiper where it meets the wiper arm. Slide the wiper blade off the arm by pulling downward. Attach a new wiper blade onto the arm. You will know it has been locked tightly when you hear a clicking sound. Slowly put the wiper arm back to the windshield.

Having tint on your car windows keep the car interior from fading, protect you from harmful UV rays, minimise solar heat in the car, keep the glass from shattering and provide better privacy and security.
To put tint on your car windows, wash windows thoroughly and make these windows wet. Put the roll film tint onto the windows and cut them into the shape of the windows. Peel off the liner and apply tint film to the inside of car window. Remove bubbles from the inside window tint and let it cure for seven days to ensure a good seal.
AC Compressor

The AC compressor provides cool air throughout the vehicle. Kita sering gunakan dalam cuaca panas.
Ada dua situasi yang perlu ingin tahu bila AC compressor ada masalah – (1) tidak rasa angina sejuk keluar dari vents dan (2) dengar suara besar.
Drive Axle

The drive axle enables you to move the car because it transfers the engine’s power to the wheels. It lets you turn the wheel and control the car.
You will notice the drive axle has problems when it starts to make loud clunking noises and severe vibrations throughout your car.
Oil Filter

The car’s oil filter removes dust and abrasive particles of the engine oil. Having clean engine oil keeps the engine running smoothly.
Shock Absorber

The shock absorber keeps the vehicle stable when you drive over uneven roads. It is located on the underside of your car.
Make sure that you don’t drive too fast on these roads and driving over road bumps to prevent wear and tear on the car’s suspension system.
Chassis

The chassis is the frame of the car that supports parts of the automotive such as engine, brakes, steering, axle, tires and others.
